Overview

The Message Filtering App helps you keep your inbox clean. It can automatically hide swear words and other unwanted language by filtering messages before they appear in your chat window.

You can use our built-in profanity list, create your own list of words, or set up custom filters.

Adding the Message Filtering App

To add this app, follow the steps in How to Add an Application to Text Groove.

Once installed, you'll find it under Apps in the left side menu.

Fill out the fields on the filter setup screen:

  • Name of Filter: Give your filter a name to help you stay organized.

  • Assign to Sender: Choose which number this filter should apply to.

  • Type of Filter:

    • Profanity: Blocks a list of common swear words automatically.

    • List of Words: Add your own comma-separated list. The system will also detect common variations like plurals and symbol swaps.

    • Regular Expression: For advanced users. Reach out to support@textgroove.com if you need help.

Then choose what happens when a match is found:

  • Remove Matched Words: Replaces the matched words with asterisks (*).

  • Quarantine Message: Hides the message and stores it privately so you can review it later.

  • Automatically Block Profile: Blocks the sender's profile. Their messages are still saved but won’t show in your inbox.

When you're done, click the green Create Filter button.

Managing Filters

  • Edit a filter by clicking the green Edit button under Actions.

  • View quarantined messages by clicking the yellow Quarantine button.

  • Disable or delete a filter any time once it has been created.
