Keyword Match Types: Relative, Perfect, and Exact

Overview

When setting up a keyword in the Keywords App, you’ll choose from three match types: ExactPerfect, and RelativeBy default, keyword matching is not case-sensitive. For most situations, we recommend using Exact Match.

Exact Match

The keyword must appear exactly as written, but it can be part of a longer message.

✅ Will match:

  • "Win - Christy"

  • "Win - I LOVE YOUR STATION!!!"

? Will not match:

  • "Winning is fun"

  • "Can I enter to win something?"


Perfect Match

The keyword must be the entire message, with no other text before or after it.

✅ Will match:

  • "Win"

  • "win"

  • "WIN"

? Will not match:

  • "Win - Christy"

  • "I hope I win!"

  • "The Canucks are winning"


Relative Match

The keyword can appear anywhere in the message, even inside other words.

✅ Will match:

  • "The Canucks are winning"

  • "I just want to win something"

  • "Winning feels great"

? Will not match:

  • Messages that do not contain the word "win" anywhere
